Pete,

Thanks so much for your comments. I love being able to talk about this stuff with no accusations or assumptions or judgement. Your points are valid. My POV comes from someone who is still very much on step 1 or 2 of a journey, and am confused when people say the same words but all mean different things. Confused and possibly short sighted are not that far off when describing me and my spiritual journey, although I am trying.

And maybe I just want the Unitarians to come up with different words. Or maybe I could just say I go to "service" on Sundays... See, I'm totally confused. Thanks for listening with an open mind.

Mur, I've also been enjoying the show, thanks in part to references by WHYME and She Said - He Said. Your style is well-developed and often a riot ... keep up the great work.

A quick comment about this episode: as a Christian who developed a relationship with Christ outside of the formal church and structured Christianity, I can definitely understand your concern with "Christians" who condemn others and attempt to convert through their own will (although, I would argue that neither Christ nor the Bible would consider these actions "Christ-like"); nevertheless, I found your analysis of God and the church a bit short-sighted. Rather than a diatribe or attempt at conversion through exacting absolute Truth, however, this is simply another seeker's perception: First, the term "church" is inherently a Christian term, first used in the book of Matthew (16:18) out of the mouth of Christ himself, so it's not far-fetched that Christians claim it. Secondly. if you believe in the Christian God, you believe that He is the only God. Why, then, would you acknowledge God as "our God" or "the Christian God", as other religions do? He would be everyone's God. And whether or not you personally believe that, you must understand that a Christian does. And finally, I hate the perception that I have to speak on behalf of other Christians, because they are inherently flawed. I only know the relationship I have with Christ and the Truth God gives me through the Bible, and cringe whenever I find that my church and others around me deviate from that. All that said, I really appreciate your search for something other than what the world hands you. I find that the apathetic are perhaps the most endangered in regard to spiritual health. ("I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth." - Revelations 3:15-16)

(/soapbox) I love the show and will be listening! Thanks Mur.
