Geek FUBAR

Ahem. Yes, the SQL database did not like all you zombies looking at it. It pouted and stamped its foot. It whined. And then it held its breath until it passed out.

This is a temp fix. Be nice to this site. Like the sun, don’t stare at it too long. Like Jenga, don’t pull the wrong support out. Like a bad simile, don’t talk like Mur…

Thanks for your patience. I’ll be back online Wednesday.

I dont think all podcasts are listed on iTunes. Alpha Shade isnt (I dont think) So that would probably explain why you couldnt find it in your searches.

Mark - I meant to ask: Did you guys get shut down by the PA link too? And if you find a clue how to add the podcast, let me know. I filled out an application weeks ago….

I hope by shut down too your not implying that the link shut down Alpha Shade. We have a dedicated servers and
were able to handle the PA link load.

Yeah, CB - I was implying that MY site was shut down by the PA link. :) Wordpress couldn’t handly all the requests - wasn’t even a bandwidth issue, which I was prepared for. Sigh. And now I’m not on iTunes. And I’m cold. And tired. And my soda has no fizz.

    Hi Mur,

Like the new look on the site. Sorry to hear things are on the downside, hope its just temporary.
Been a huge fan of PA and really appreciated your nod to them. Not so much a fan of AS anymore, mostly cuz of the rants. But there’s a lot of other good stuff out there, you among them. Keep up the great work!

Hello Mur and Chris, sorry for the confusion, yes Alpha Shade were fine thankfully. I’m glad they invested in a dedicated sever. They’re not cheap at all , I think Chris mentioned the price once in a rant so yeah I’m sure they’d be asking for their money back if it couldnt handle a PA plug.

I noticed GFAG was down for a short while the other day, I’m glad to see it back (looking very nice too, IE friendly as well). I thought it was a bandwidth issue but that’s just one of the problems an influx of visitors can cause to a site. I hope the plug was worth it despite the problems it caused.

As for the iTunes listing your podcast, it really shouldnt take that long for your application to go through. I’m guessing you entered everything correctly so I’m just going to go through everything to figure out why it’s not appearing. It might just be a case of submitting your application a second time. I think one of the guys from Alpha Shade submitted theirs recently, whether that’s gone through yetI’m not sure. I’ll check now.

One more thing Mur, I really enjoyed listening to your interview by the guy from Comicology. Though I did feel sorry for you both because he was having so many problems with his first interview and he kept losing you, but I’m glad you both stuck to it and managed to get it finished. It sounded like your little one had a lot to say as well [laughs] like mother, like daughter I suppose. Looking forward to you taking part in and conducting more interviews, it’s a wonderful change and really enjoy listening to all the views.

Otakufreak - I think it’s a shame that you would stop being a fan of Alpha Shade just because of their Rants. They don’t force you to listen to the rants, so it really shouldnt put you off the comic itself. Sure they’re more honest and not afraid to offend some ( one or two crazy fans) people but it’s still very entertaining. What works for them might not work for all, I mean I couldnt picture Mur saying some of the things but then she’s never had the “pleasure” of meeting a guy with a portfolio full of pictures of anime chicks with their clothes removed and their breasts enlarged. [laughs] Though I’m sure she’s met quite a few interesting fans like that during her work and play :)

You’re spot on, Mark. My issue is more specific and I comment on it in my own rant. I’m gonna table the issue because I want to direct people’s attention to Mur’s project. Which rocks. I really like what she is trying to do and I also appreciate CB’s assistance while ActionGrip was down-ish.

Enjoy your vacation, Mur! I’ll def be waiting for the next podcast. Ship when you’re ready!

Is there any way to get the old shows? I found your ‘cast just the other day, and would like to catch up on the old episodes, but the links here on the site return 404’s… I know some ‘casters drop old shows to save bandwidth costs, and if that’s the case, that’s fine. Keep up the interesting and entertaining shows!
