Geek Fu #44 - Barry Koleman, Hero (Pt. 1)
So very much to talk about. Former prom date goes mad! The middle class have SUCH problems. And Mur puts out fiction over podcast because an essay failed to leave her mind this week.

I have been listening to your podcast for a few months and enjoy it a lot. I just wanted to chime in and say that I especially enjoyed this week’s podcast. I thought your story interesting and different take on the typical super hero story. It was little dark. I loved it and can’t wait to hear the second part.
Any chance of getting a hearing a podiobook from you?

It was Doom 2 - that was a pretty cool mod, too

Hey Mur, great show!
This worked for me with PCs and itunes… so maybe you can give it a shot:
Transfer everything over to your new shiny mac, then, go into itunes, find all of it, and try to play a right protected song. It should ask you to authorize your computer to play the song.
As for stuff that’s stuck on your ipod, I’ve gotta believe a geek somewhere knows how to get around THAT! If I can make my audible stuff play on a PSP, then you should be able to get those songs off your ipod somehow.
There is also a setting somewhere in itunes that lets you chose to ONLY update new stuff, and not change or delete old stuff. It’s in the help file somewhere, but I don’t have itunes on my new machine so I can’t tell you where.
Well, good luck!
~Lynn
P.S. the fiction was GREAT! Can’t wait to hear the end!

I liked the fiction too…
It is a very human look on the super hero idea…

Mur, your story hit a nerve with me today. My daughter is just beginning to understand that she isn’t as smart as her twin, and it is heartbreaking for me to see her realize that. Since I became a mom, everything I read looks different. Of course, if your writing had been crappy it wouldn’t have touched me at all :-). Good job!

Loved the fiction but i have to say, Barry sounded like a 30 year old emo kid. Neways i picked up evil genius back in the winter and its an awesome game just 1 warning. DONT BRAINWASH TOURISTS!(Youll understand soon enough)

Hi Mur!
I’m loving the podcast. (Actually found “I Should Be Writing” first, but now I’m getting both.)
I was really glad to see you going ahead with the idea of putting out fiction on the podcast. I’m really intrigued by the concept and it’s cool to see that the feedback has been so positive so far.
In fact, it gave me the confidence to give it a try on my own podcast this week.
Also, I was surprised to see that we both live in the Raleigh-Durham area. (Note: Totally not stalking!) Just thought that was a fun coincidence. ^_^

Two thmbs up for Barry Koleman part 1.
I have been reading comics for 35 years and I really liked the premise. I was amazed at how much was developed in part 1 - I am really looking forward to part 2.
