Interesting comment on Battlestar - if you listen to the podcast commentary by Ron Moore (creator/Executive Producter) you’ll find he’s even more unhappy whith how the episode turned out than you were. He characterizes it as the low point of the series. Interestingly enough, he takes full responsibility, acknowledging that he’s the man and if it sucks, it’s because he let it. Here’s the link for the podcasts, if you’re interested.

honestly Tim, I love the idea of BSG podcasts but because to fully enjoy them I’d have to watch BSG twice, I never actually have the time so I don’t download them. I’ll probably watch them on the DVD when it comes out. Thanks for the note, though, good to know he acknowledges the badness.

About storing your older podcasts? I have some links in my del.icio.us bookmarks you might find useful. The first listed is a list of on-line storage places, and the second is a round-up/review of such. I hope you find them useful…

    Hey Mur,
I’m not sure if your only allowing a listen but the rss feed doesn’t pick up the old episodes.

    Mur —

    Michael in Atlanta here again…

You were right about the episode of BSG — it was formulaic, hackneyed, and dry. They underutilized a quality actor in Bill Duke — no, they completely wasted him in the role.

I listened to Ron Moore’s podcast of the episode, and agreed with him on it; but I refuse to let him off the hook. He doesn’t have the luxury of 24 episodes per season so that he can waste one. If he knew it was awful going in, then why didn’t he either fix it or toss it?

After all, he has already said that they have combined at least three different episodes at various points this season; I would think that they do have more stories they can work with - take the time to get this one right and revisit the story later this season or sometime next season.

Ah, well, water under the bridge, I suppose.

The following week was a bit better (though I’m really getting tired of the use of flashback exposition - this makes three episodes in a row), with Kat bucking up against Starbuck’s authority.

I did like how Starbuck turned things around at the end — after all, it is not about who the real badass is, but about those who are no longer present…

Holy Chrome! Did I hear “Arkham Horror” mentioned? Oh, how I miss those monster-slaying days of yore! I still have my copy, pristine and lonely. I got the kids interested in it for a few shiny weeks but, alas, it couldn’t compete with online RPGs. Thanks for stirring up the memories!

I forgot to add: Mur, please repeat after me, “So, if the apology annoys you…get over it.” Those were the words I spoke into your pause, and I was slightly let down when you finished on a conciliatory note. :-)

    Scots! Not Scotch!

If you’re of Scots descent, you’re descended from Scottish folk.

If you’re of Scotch descent, you’re descended from a bottle of Famous Grouse! :)

I bought a Sony PSP this week, and it’s pretty cool. So far, Geek Fu is the only rss feed that I can play on it. So thanks for the coolness on my PSP, you sound great even coming from one tiny speaker!

If anyone knows of any cool rss feeds that do work on the psp aside from lovely Mur’s, let me know.

I have just to my first Geek Fu podcast, this one. I’m an illustrator, working in the game industry… and I find listening to these wonderful podcasts helps keep my butt in the chair and getting the work done.

So, thank you for enteraining me whilst I get the art chores done!

I will be listening to a lot more of your podcast (I have been picking through many of the related sights, the Gamers, Sons of Kryos, Harping Monkey…. this is a brand new adventure for me.

A nice change of pace to listening to NPR all day long.
