When I think "shower" I think "...and all other necessary hygiene." I don't remember coming across a foul breath issue often at cons, any moreso than in everyday life.

Seems to me all the blogs and information I've read forgot to mention one itsy-bitsy tiny thing... it's not in the 3-2-1 rule. A shower is appreciated but man, isn't a pleasant breath too - as in, carry gum or breath mints, brush your teeth?

This is all excellent advice! I have a couple of things to add and emphasize to those who have never been:

The hotels won't stop you from bringing in your own food... at least the Marriott has never stopped us and we usually brought quite a bit. Typically we would bring several coolers worth (PIGS!).. saved us scads of cash. There are a couple of grocery stores (IMO) within walking distance.

To emphasize a couple of the things you've said... The biggest for me were the 3-2-1 rule.
Definitely EAT! To add to that - drinking alcohol or not - drink water. Do yourself a huge favor and stay hydrated. Please!

Showers are an imperative for me, but to some it isn't. One of our roommates decided to bring someone "home" to our room a couple of years ago and to make a long story short, we were thankful we brought a fan with us. We had to sit the fan blowing air out of the room because the person the roomie decided to bring to the room who smelled like they hadn't had a shower since the last DragonCon.

Hand sanitizer/wash your hands almost obsessively! With lots of people in small space, getting very little sleep, running their immune systems down, and some people's poor hygiene habits, its easy to catch and pass on the dreaded "con crud". This is a life-saver.

Nice little guide. I like the fancy terms you used: fleshy, 3-2-1 rule, and fragile fllower.
