  Hi,

  I found your site via webcrumbs. Looked at some photos and noticed your dog. I also live in the Triangle area and have the same breed of dog. Are you aware of what breed you’ve got? It looks like you also have a Dixie Dingo, a.k.a. Carolina Dog, a.k.a. Carolina Brown Dog.

  actually, we think she’s got a lot of Rhodesian Ridgeback blood. Her ears are floppy and her tail isn’t curled, and she gets the ridge down her spine when she gets excited. But she’s a mutt we found in the woods, so who knows?

  Her torso, hair, and legs are just like our dog. Our dog also gets the same ridge down the spine, but his ears are up like a shepherd — they were floppy when he was younger.

  Our dog was also found in the wild, which is the case with most carolina dogs. They run wild in the woods throughout the Carolinas. You might check out www.carolinadogs.com if you haven’t already.

  Anyway, sorry to bother. You know how us dog people are!!!

  I stumbled across a wonderful short story about a guy whose interpretation of a song helped Change my Life.

  even if its taking a long time to do manage it… maybe even longer than a LifeTime

  Just wanna tell you that Rhodesian Ridgebacks don’t “get” that ridge when they’re excited or nervous or scared or whatever. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are born with that ridge (it doesn’t ‘grow in’; it’s there at birth) and have it every minute of every day of their lives! (The hair on the backs of most dogs will rise when the dog is nervous.) The distinctive (Rhodesian) Ridge(back) is a physical trait occurs naturally via a strip - or ridge - of hair that grows in the opposite direction from the rest of the hairs on their backs.

  Hope you had fun at the seminar! I just listened to “I should be writing” from the 22nd… i’ve been having geek fu withdrawls. I listen to podcasts on the train ride into work and have had to branch out a bit to cover the distance.

  Let me just say that your podcast is great and pretty darn high quality.
