ouch! really feel sorry for your Daughter. I’ve had some bad Dental problems myself and was wincing in Sympathy. Hope she feels better soon.

Fantastic story Mur! I love it I always hate hearing the end of a show because I want more.

Great story! I really liked the line of Emperors at the gates of Purgatory.
One small quibble…at one point, you have Nero say ‘Holy Roman Empire.’ This, actually, is a completely different political kingdom from the Roman Empire that you’re writing about.
Sorry to be a buzz-kill, but if you print these out you might want to revisit that passage.

I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, so there’s no chance that my mouth is going to be pain free. Thankfully, I’ve got Vicodin to dull that pain and keep me on a slight but nonetheless noticeable high. Thanks, Vicodin. And thanks, Mur, for another great chapter that has helped to keep me entertained during my long weekend of rest and recovery. As a student of Latin and of Roman history, this chapter was especially enjoyable for me. I look forward to the next installment.

Oh how I hated the dentist for most of my life! I didn’t find one until about 6 or 7 years ago who didn’t trigger intense anxiety just by walking into the office.
My childhood dentist should not have been a dentist. He didn’t like children, as far as I could tell as a child. Short tempered and snappish, visiting the dentist is bad enough for a child. To have this huge authority figure snap at you, ordering you to be quiet, especially as a 6 or 7 year old, was traumatic.

Mur I already described my 4 year-old daughter’s face-plant on concrete driveway when she was 2… as you said the first time you see your child in real pain touches you in places you never thiought were there.
I agree whole-heartedly with your assessments of Lost and Heroes. Lost has ‘lost’ some of what made it special in my mind–the ‘dysfunctional family’ dynamic of the crash survivors… the ‘out of thin air’ introductions of survivors that have somehow hidden on the edges of the beach just out of view for 2 1/2 seasons?… I dunno. I’ll keep watching next year, but LOST has fallen far below BSG as far as plotting goes in my mind.
***SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW***
The flashback episode of Heroes this week was particularly fun, and I loved how they dotted the i’s of a lot of plot threads (the genesis of Sylar, showing a particular car accident, more of Nikki’s history, and of the Petrelli family).
As for Hell, I continue to love it. The mix of historical and/or mythological figures and the continued growth of our heroes Kate and Daniel is what keeps me listening, and you never fail to deliver! Great work Mur!!

Hey Mur? Any chance you would start a forum?

Mur, you could always expand your I Should Be Writing Forum to be a ISBW/Geek Fu forums : )
We could really spend some time on many of your episode topics (like I need another time-sink, argh).
